Finally, Summer is here, and there is no better way to relax than to lay on the beach or by the pool soaking up the sun with your new favorite book to read!
Many people these days are having some serious dilemmas with the amount of choice on offer -- do you pick a crime novel, a steamy romance book, or even the latest vampire saga?!
The choice is yours, but here is a list of my top picks that will make you enjoy your "ME time" even more!
One Fifth Avenue by Candace Bushnell -- Author of the infamous Sex and the City series, Bushnell knows what it takes to write books with a lighthearted, indulgent storyline, relatable characters, and, of course, some steamy scenes! If you are looking for a book that gives you an insight into the lives of rich New Yorkers, then this is definitely a must on your list! Filled with a smattering of sexy and plenty of money and shopping, it’s the perfect choice if you are looking for a fun, juicy, girly read!
The Beach House by Jane Green -- Now, if the name wasn’t enough to capture you into a cliché summer read, then maybe the heartwarming storyline will just tip you over the edge. The Beach House will not disappoint all you young women who long for true-life dilemmas with happy endings! Set in Nantucket an elder lady decides to rent rooms in her summerhouse for some cash to save her never-ending bills. With people starting to move in after losing her husband any years ago, main character Nan finds her self feeling whole again with a family holding her together! A beautiful story which will leave you feeling happy and satisfied with all things good in life, which is all you need this summer!
Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake by Anna Quindlen -- If you’re feeling a little lost this summer, needing something that will give you some self-reflection, then pick up Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake. A beautifully written book with insights into a generation that in itself is "still figuring things out". New York Times best-selling author Quindlen creates a story that brings all ages together to question how they really feel about the world!
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James -- So, if you have not already heard the national controversy over this novel, then are you living under a rock?! This is a must-read, just for pure indulgence, and then you can conclude whether you agree with the pulling of this novel from public library shelves! Yes, even in our enlighten ages, this book has caused a great deal of controversy across America. Your typical "steamy romance read", Fifty Shades of Grey is not just for the older lady! If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh (and cringe!) and also get you on "trend", then this is the novel for you!
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins -- The sequel to The Hunger Games (which, after it hit the box office, made book sales soar) does not disappoint! Catching Fire is a beautifully written book, and is not just for the young adult! Pick it up today and find out how far Katniss will go to keep her friends and family safe. There’s no need to wait for the movie to be released at theatres; the book is infinitely better!
Let us know what YOU will be reading this summer!
