The sun is beaming and the sandals and summer dresses are coming on. That means fashionistas are also ready to buy their shades for the summer. This fashion accessory sets a precedent and a statement. It doesn’t just protect your eyes from the sun; it completes your entire ensemble. You can find all the trends at department stores and shops like H&M, Urban Outfitters, and Forever 21.
Retro. With shows like "Mad Men" putting people in a frenzy trying to dress like they're in a time warp, shades that remind us of a certain era are also picking up steam. You can channel Jackie O. with the big, rounded shapes, or go back to the '70s look with the no-frame on the bottom-half. Men and Black III is coming out this summer, so you can always throwback to classic all-black shades with a somewhat rounded shape.
Color. And by color, I mean bright, bold colors. Of course, black and brown will never go out of style, but color is hitting all the designs. Bright yellows, pinks, blues, and oranges are the colors that can really make any outfit pop. There are also a lot of options when it comes to pastels. These shades are simple in shape because it’s the color that is standing out. Yes, they even come in neon shades. Also keep in mind when selecting bright colors to make sure they complement your hair color as well.
Different Shapes. Maybe you want some extreme shape, and you’ve worn out your oversized oval shades from last year. Why not try extreme shapes like heart shades. (Apparently, guys like them to Josh Hutcherson rocked some at an awards show. I guess he was feeling the love).
A Perfect Circle. If the odd shapes are not your thing, then there is the simple rounded circle shades. This is perfect for those craving a vintage style. They can be found at places like Urban Outfitters for less than $20.
Keep in mind that, whatever you choose ultimately needs to fit your face. And for those who hate picking up glasses and trying them on one by one, there is new technology that is allowing window shopping for shades to get easier.
What shades will YOU be rocking this summer?
