YH staffer Tim and I are on three-way with Jeff Somers, CEO of PLUGGEDin.com, which offers, as they state simply: the best music videos, on demand. We've set up the call because I heard it through the grapevine Will Smith had a tie into the site. That piqued my interest and the YH crew gave a collective thumbs-up to put it here in the hot column. Now, we're checking out the goods straight from the source. What we saw was that no one had taken full advantage of all the latest technology out there, Jeff tells us. PLUGGEDin is all about the visual, baby.In terms of high-def, the experience we're trying to create is what you're experiencing in your living room now, he says.I know exactly what Jeff is talking about. My roommate insisted on getting a 55-inch flat screen TV, then upgrading our cable to HD. Watching anything else now is like a time warp into the 1950s.Jeff makes a similar comparison. Once you try us, he says, it's very hard to go back.Their goal right now is to connect with the audience beyond offering superior video quality, and to focus on the viewer experience. In the next few months, the site will build out the community aspects to make the site richer and more dynamic. Jeff and his gang seek to elevate the experience, make it more engaging. With investors like Will Smith backing them, PLUGGEDin has an immediate sense of potential. For us, its day one, Jeff says. There are a lot more innovations to come. With that, the conversation moves towards the business stuff and I'm letting the guys talk, putting my notes together...all the while watching a live version of Closer' by Nine Inch Nails -- at full screen with a crystal clear picture on my laptop screen. Sweet. All in a days work --Wes
