The Kids Have Spoken! Highlights from the 2012 Teen Choice Awards!

The night was young. And by that, we mean some of the freshest and brightest faces of the entertainment industry came out in full force at last night’s 14th annual Teen Choice Awards!

Universal City Walk’s Gibson Amphitheatre was the venue in which the young’uns of Hollywood all came out to celebrate the best and brightest of the past year, and the evening was hosted by some of the best and brightest themselves -- the stunning singer/"X Factor" judge Demi Lovato, and "Glee"’s very own Kevin McHale.

Because it is, of course, the Teen’s Choice, voting for every award of the night was done by viewers and fans on the official TCA website.

The night kicked off with awards for Choice TV Show (Sci-Fi/Fantasy), which ultimately went to “The Vampire Diaries”, and a Choice Movie Actor (Drama) win for Zac Efron for his role in The Lucky One.

Selena Gomez and The Scene took home the award for Choice Music Group, and the gorgeous Gomez was greeted by a delightful surprise when she took to the stage to accept -- a birthday cupcake display emblazoned with decorative sparklers was presented to the birthday girl as the entirety of the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to the now 20-year-old singer/actress.

Other notable awards of the night included Taylor Swift for Choice Female Artist, Miranda Cosgrove for the Inspire Award, Rihanna for Choice Breakout in a Film (Battleship), and Lucy Hale and the cast of “Pretty Little Liars” for Choice Television Drama.

UK heartthrobs and Kings of the World One Direction accepted three fan-voted surfboard awards for Choice Summer Music Star Group, Choice Music Breakout Group, and Choice Love Song for their #1 hit “What Makes You Beautiful”. Although they weren’t there to accept the award in person, they pre-recorded an acceptance speech/skit that was definitely the talk of all Directioners on Twitter.

And what’s a proper award show ceremony without a few musical performances? No Doubt took to the stage for the first time in ages to perform their new hit “Settle Down”, and Flo Rida and Carly Rae Jepsen performed their summer hits “Wild Ones” and “Call Me Maybe”, respectively.

But the real show-stealer was superstar Justin Bieber, who smashed the stage with a medley of “Boyfriend” and his latest single “As Long As You Love Me”. His collaborator Big Sean even made a surprise appearance on-stage to help him perform and wow the crowd.

We can’t wait until next year’s sure-to-be fun-filled and jam-packed TCA antics! What were some of your highlights from last night’s award show? Let us know!
