The 2012 MTV Movie Award nominations are out, and The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids top the list with noms in 8 categories a piece.

 

There are also new categories this year to get excited about, including Best Cast, Best On-screen Transformation, Best Music, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, and Best On-Screen Dirtbag.

 

The Hunger Games is one of the frontrunners this time around with nominations in Movie of the Year, Best Male Performance for Josh Hutcherson, Best Female Performance for Jennifer Lawrence, Breakthrough Performance for Liam Hemsworth, Best Cast, Best Onscreen Transformation for Elizabeth Banks, Best Fight, and Best Kiss.

 

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 is also up for Best Kiss and Movie of the Year, where it will battle breakout star The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, The Help, and Bridesmaids.

 

Bridesmaids is additionally up for Best Female Performance and Best Comedic Performance for Kristen Wiig, another Best Comedic Performance and Breakthrough Performance for Melissa McCarthy, Best Gut Wrenching Performance for the seven main ladies (bridal store fiasco, anyone?), and Best On-Screen dirtbag for Jon Hamm.

 

Rooney Mara got recognition as Breakthrough Performance and Best Female Performance for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. 21 Jump Street got noms in Best Fight, Best Onscreen Transformation for Johnny Depp, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, Best Cast, and Best Comedic Performance for Jonah Hill.

 

Ryan Gosling received a few noms, including Best Onscreen Kiss with Emma Stone in Crazy Stupid Love as well as both Best Gut-Wrenching performance and Best Male Performance for Drive, which is also up for Best Music (insert my vote here) for "Real Hero” by College & Electric Youth.
