The Color for 2013: Emerald Green!

Folks, we’re following the yellow brick road. To Emerald City. Why Emerald City? IDK. Dorothy made it sound like a beautiful destination. We may even hob-nob with some stars -- the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion, oh my! While all of this is only possible in the wonderful World of Oz, we can still take a piece of Emerald City with us wherever we go. Yup, thanks to Pantone, the color of the year is -- drum roll please -- Emerald Green! What do these two have in common? Emerald, duh. It sure beats out last year’s color, Tangerine Tango.

I’m here to help y’all incorporate this color into your wardrobe. You can be a daredevil and wear emerald from head to toe, or you can take a more conservative approach and spruce up your wardrobe with some emerald accessories. Below, I’ve included a list of my favorite emerald pieces. I hope you find something that speaks to your style!

Emerald Lace Dress - A dainty and feminine lace dress with a removable navy belt. Pairs well with leggings and boots during the wintertime or wedges for the spring and summer!

Emerald Wrap Watch - A statement watch with a leather band and chain wrap. Swap out your silver or gold watch for this trendier piece on special occasions.

Rolling Stone Necklace - A three-layered stone necklace that would look gorgeous paired with a mint top (as shown on model) or dress. You want to wear it with lighter colors, so it stands out.

Skinny Jeans - These midrise Hudson skinny jeans can be incorporated into your work attire (depending on your dress code) or can be worn on a night out with friends. Pair it with a white blazer, printed blouse, and pumps. Btw, I highly recommend these Zara pumps.

Alexander Wang Cuff Sandals - Start pinching those pennies and putting away money in your piggy bank. These Alexander Wang Sandals are a splurge indeed, but may be just what the doctor ordered.

Emerald Stone Applique Headband - An art deco headband that adds a surprising touch of emerald to any ensemble. No need to wear earrings or a necklace; this hair accessory is best worn on its own.

Kendra Scott Reversible Necklace - I think all apparel and accessories should be reversible! You get more use out of it that way, right? This Kendra Scott necklace is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s double-sided and each side has its own unique beauty and elegance.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Cable Knit Sweater - “A modern cable knit design on this MARC BY MARC JACOBS merino wool sweater is a fresh way to add texture and warmth to winter wardrobes.” A soft and comfy sweater to wear with your skinny jeans and boots.

Crinkle Mini Skirt - I’m not gonna lie. I love me a mini skirt. Not the bandage kind that hug every little curve and dimple. The flowy, figure-flattering kind. This crinkle city mini is the one!

Scalloped Swimsuit - Thank goodness one piece bathing suits are back in style. One less body part to worry about! Well, kind of... sort of... I guess, but not really. Ah heck, who gives a flying hoot! Beauty is more than skin deep, right? Back to the topic at hand, this swimsuit with scalloped edging is adorable!

Pleated Maxi Skirt - A maxi skirt is a girl’s bff. This pleated VS skirt with a sexy split is another closet staple. My favorite way to style it is with a plain T-shirt, denim jacket, straw fedora, and flat sandals. Cute and simple.

Crisscross Sandal - “The strappy sandal is a must for every shoe collection. Crisscross straps create clean lines and a slender ankle strap adds allure. With a sky-high platform heel, it will easily become a favorite night-out shoe.” A go-to shoe for the spring and summer.

Emerald Nail Varnish - Because your nails need a rich coating of emerald color too! This brand of nail polish is quick-drying, chip-resistant, and long-lasting!

“We’re off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” Wherever the yellow brick road leads you, I hope it’s full of emerald cheer! And if you happen to make a pitstop in Munchkin City, say hello to my dearest Munchkin friends! Something tells me I need to stick to my day job...
