The Celebs Who Have Ditched the Limo for More Hands-On Transport!

For a long time, celebrities have been known to be chauffeur-driven around town in limousines or drive cars that you and I could only ever dream about. However, it's always a nice surprise when reports emerge of celebrities taking more "normal" forms of transport. After all, they're just like you and me!

Being a normal everyday person usually means moaning about commuting on the train everyday. That wasn't the case for global superstar Rihanna. She managed to cause a frenzy last year when she was spotted on the subway (or the "tube", as they call it in England) on her way to a gig at the O2 Arena in London. The star was reported to be completely at ease and was posing for pictures with fans.

Other celebrities such as Jake Gyllenhaal and Keanu Reeves have also been caught travelling via subway, with the latter trying his best to hide behind a newspaper. A distressed-looking Claire Danes was also spotted on a platform, whilst a bubbly Emmy Rossum was seen emerging from a New York subway. Ex-"Gossip Girl" Taylor Momsen left the Upper East Side behind as she travelled by subway in her distinct sense of style, while material girl Madonna seemed more relaxed on her trip.

Preferring to ride solo are celebrities who have invested in bicycles and have been seen gliding all around town. In true vintage fashion, The Beatles set the trend back in the day with their matching bikes. This has led to well known figures such as George W. Bush setting out on his own heavy duty bike. People that have rode with him have extensively talked about his competitive flair. Adding a little girlie touch are popular celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, and Hilary Duff. Supermodels such as Gisele Bundchen, Elle McPherson, and Agyness Deyn have also been seen riding their own set of two wheels, no doubt keeping their svelte bodies in shape!

There is, however, a certain taste for danger that many celebrities like to indulge in. Angelina Jolie has been known to cruise around in motorcycles, and her other half Brad Pitt was seen in his new side-car motorcycle earlier this year! David Beckham and Tom Cruise reportedly started "The Midnight Boys Bike Club" last year in the Hollywood Hills, after realizing they shared a passion for customised motorcycles. Playing it a bit safer are a steady slew of celebrities who enjoy riding around on scooters; fans include Anne Hathaway, Matthew Broderick, and Zac Efron.

Where it may just be for attention or for the thrill of high speeds, not all our favorite on-screen people like the "superstar" norm of being ushered around by an entourage. They take the underground, ride bikes, and breeze along in their motorcycles -- even though some of their purchases may be a bit more pricey than ours!
