Whether you’re a full-on vegan, or a fish-eating, egg-devouring vegetarian, or you’re a serious carnivore with a veggie-tooth, the L.A. restaurant scene has something for everyone. We’ve picked five of our favorite spots to get your veggie grub on in the City of Angels!
Real Food Daily – RFD has restaurants in Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Pasadena, so no matter where you are, you can swing by an RFD for your 100% vegan fix. Our favorite thing on the menu? The “NOT-CHOS”! These are big enough to share and are made with tortilla chips, melted cashew cheese, black beans, pico de gallo, guac, and tofu sour cream. This healthy take on nachos give the real thing some steep competition! View the full menu on their website: http://www.realfood.com
Veggie Grill – With tons of locations in the Southern Cali area, you could be on a college campus in Irvine or on the streets of Santa Monica, and Veggie Grill is there to serve you. With a 100% plant-based menu, Veggie Grill is free of cholesterol, animal fat, and trans fat, and many of the options are made with tempeh and veggie and soy proteins. Our favorite thing on the menu? “Sweetheart Fries”! These fries are made with sweet potatoes and chipotle ranch dressing… and if you’re feelin’ bold, you can make them Chili Cheese Fries! M Café de Chaya -- On Melrose in West Hollywood and in Beverly Hills, M Café de Chaya is one of our favorites! M Café is known for their “Contemporary Macrobiotic Cuisine”, meaning no refined sugars, no eggs, no dairy, no red meat, and no poultry. Did we mention that M Café has sushi? Fish-eaters will love it! Our favorite thing on the menu? The “Grilled Tuna Burger”! Glazed with teriyaki sauce, topped with avocado, pickled onions, daikon sprouts, spicy yuzu mayo, and straight to you on a whole wheat bun, this tuna burger hits the spot! With tons of vegan and vegetarian options, True Food embraces everyone but uses real ingredients and healthy cooking techniques. Gluten-free? True Food has options for that too. Our favorite vegetarian item on the menu? The “Asparagus and Artichoke Pizza"! Made with smoked mozzarella, sweet onion, and oregano, this pizza is sure to satisfy!
