It seems that, in 2012, you do not have to have been around long enough to have a multi million-dollar box office blockbuster or to have chart-topping success for years to become a celebrity icon. Teens and even 'tweens are now stepping out in style on that red carpet, being shot for covers of leading fashion magazines, and walking in fashion shows for exclusive designers. This generation of junior superstars are the trendsetters.
The first names that come to mind would have to be the Jenner sisters -- the younger half-sisters of the Kardashians. Kylie and Kendall Jenner have both had spreads and cover shots for Teen Vogue recently, and Kendall is the face of ultra-popular evening wear designer Sherri Hill, walking exclusively for her in the designer's recent couture collection.
Following hot on the heels of this glamorous duo are the Fanning sisters, Dakota and Elle. Already known for their outstanding acting skills, in recent years this pair of teens has also rocked the red carpet at almost every major Hollywood event. In December 2011, they were asked to pose for a fashion editorial for W Magazine wearing the latest designs of Chanel, Dior, Valentino, and luxury brand Rodarte, for which Elle is the face.
But it's not just actors and famous families that are taking the limelight away from traditional supermodels -- 'tween and teen pop sensations from both sides of the pond are also making themselves seen as well as heard. Pint-sized pop star Willow Smith has rocked the pop scene with her avant garde style and brightly-colored shaved hair. Bringing sportswear to new heights, stepping out in Adidas Yohji Yamamoto boots recently, Willow is not afraid to match fashion trends to her current hair and nail color!
The UK is currently being kept enraptured by a very fashionable group of young teens known collectively as One Direction. The brainchild of Simon Cowell, One Direction is made up of five exceptionally good-looking, very stylish young men – who can also sing! Since they first hit the music scene after competing on "X Factor", One Direction has been responsible for the UK’s total sell-out of colored chinos and fitted chambray shirts. Setting new trends for teen boy across the UK, it's no wonder that stores in the US are now getting ready for the onslaught of One Direction-wannabe shoppers.
