A new parody musical has hit YouTube in a 13-part series filled with wacky wordplay and catchy tunes!
The musical is a collaboration by Team StarKid, an ensemble of writers, directors, actors, designers, and other production team members, who show their interest in pop culture through works of unique theatrical parody productions. You might remember their last big hit , "A Very Potter Musical", which helped launch Darren Criss to fame.
Writers and directors Matt Lang and Nick Lang have now created “Holy Musical B@man!”, inspired by the more cartoonish elements of the Batman patrimony, with a full-length, song-filled adventure play about Batman, which boasts appearances from notorious villains such as Catwoman, The Riddler, The Penguin, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, and Poison Ivy, as well as special surprise appearances from a few other Justice League members.
Because “Holy Musical B@man!” is a parody, it is not endorsed or associated with DC Comics or Warner Bros.
The music from the play can be purchased at teamstarkid.bandcamp.com on the album, That’s What I Call StarKid! Vol. 2.
The play ran for eight free performances at the Hoover-Leppen Theater in Chicago in March and is now available in its entirety on YouTube, so be sure to check it out if you’re a superhero fan!
