For about $15, you can bring the fancy Hollywood trainer home. No gym necessary, just some open space and light hand-weights. Fitness expert Lalo Fuentes is back with Lalo Fit DVD Volume 2; a gut-busting workout that will leave you in a puddle of your own sweat.

Lalo’s trademark is the “freeze technique,” his way of making sure to focus properly on the muscle involved in the exercise.

“In this second DVD I continue teaching people how to connect with their muscles using the Freeze Technique and get results fast,” Lalo tells me. “Even though the first DVD was tough, it emphasized more on teaching proper technique and correct posture.”

Now he’s taking it a step further: “In this second DVD of LaloFit I start introducing plyometrics,” he says. Since you’re wondering, Plyometrics uses maximum effort to create explosive power. “This is all to keep your body moving, lean, in shape and ready to venture in any sport,” he adds. Hey, life is a sport!

MAKE TIME: Lalo doesn’t make room for excuses. His theory: “People who say they can’t take 30 minutes a day to take care of their bodies are unconsciously scared of failure. What you need to do is give them results. I start them out slow, training once or twice a week and checking their diet, without being too strict. As soon as we see results, they’re hooked, suddenly they have more time to train and are more into eating healthy because they want to see more of that. There’s nothing that motivates people more than results.”

Aside from the full-body, one hour workout, this DVD also features a quick 15 minute routine, “For those days time is tight or you're on a trip,” he says. No excuses means just that!

Still, no matter how much work you put in, you can’t out-train a poor diet. “Mix strength training, cardio and diet and you’ll be like a magician,” Lalo reveals. “You will see results immediately.”

He hit his point home, saying, “You need to have a balanced diet in order to see results.”

Every meal including snacks, should have the following 4 things: Lean protein, fiber, good carbs from fruits and vegetables and good fat which could be found on avocado, olive oil, etc. “Before you put that in your mouth,” he advises, “make sure it is balanced, meaning it has those 4 components.”

Keep in mind that being fit, healthy and active is a great goal, but it should be fun, not frustrating. Lalo says some of the best advice he’s ever been given keeps him level-headed: “If there’s a solution for a problem…why stress? And if there’s no solution for a problem…why stress? Remember that and you’ll be a much happier person.”
