Superstars Help Dick Clark Ring In the New Year for the 40th Time

Want to see some of the hottest acts in the music biz all in one night? Here’s your chance! Tune in to “Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012" to get a front-row seat to this blowout concert.

This will be the 40th anniversary for the production, meaning this year’s show is nothing short of a spectacle. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the beloved New Year’s Eve celebration, the festivities will commence at 8:00pm EST on ABC, with a special two-hour star-studded event hosted by Jenny McCarthy and Fergie titled “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve: The 40th Anniversary Party.” Immediately following will be “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012.”

The five-and-a-half hour celebration will include performances by: Beyoncé (from the London leg of her worldwide tour), Robin Thicke, The Band Perry, blink-182, Florence + The Machine, Gym Class Heroes, LMFAO, OneRepublic, Nicki Minaj, Taio Cruz, Will.i.am, a special collaboration from Justin Bieber and Carlos Santana, Hot Chelle Rae, Pitbull, and Lady Gaga, all performing live in Times Square right before the ball drops.

“We're really thrilled to see how this year's lineup lights up the stage to make it the most memorable show yet," Seacrest told ABC.

Also included in the show’s lineup is a stroll down memory lane looking at how the “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” production has evolved over the course of 40 years. "It hardly seems possible that we began telecasting 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' 40 years ago. Armed with just a couple of cameras and a skeleton crew, my wife and I stood atop a Times Square building and watched the thousands of happy celebrants in Times Square,” Clark reminisced. 

The TV special will also include reports on New Year’s celebrations from around the world and the infamous Dick Clark countdown to midnight live from the Big Apple.
