SPECIAL K: Miss Illinois Spreads A Great Message To The Youth Of AMERICA

Hey guys it’s Scotty “Special K” Kay in Chicago back again with someone you should not only know, but listen to! (she’s smart)

On June 20th ‘09 Erin O’Connor was named MISS ILLINOIS, but her beauty and talent were just means to a message! When Erin was 18 she lost her mother to Melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer. Since then, she has devoted herself to skin cancer prevention by working as an Advocate for the American Cancer Society.

This is such an important message for this generation because being beautiful and tan is being shoved down its throat at every turn. When someone as beautiful, smart, and talented as Erin can show young girls that they do not need to spend their lives in dangerous tanning beds to be pretty, maybe we CAN battle the “Jersey Shore” mentality!

You saw in the interview that you can make a difference. If you have a message you need to spread, then go and find a way to spread it. I wish Erin all the luck in the upcoming Miss America Pageant on TLC.

Off camera you will all like to know Erin is very down to earth, goofy, loves her family very much and not at all “Pageanty” … and she drinks Mountain Dew!

Pay attention because you will see Erin for a very long time, as she is a very accomplished ballet dancer, actress, singer, and a Western Illinois University theatre-acting major! She is a STAR!

Erin is also a great coach! Check it out the video below to see her teach me to "Walk Pretty"
