The beauty of the internet is that so many are able to promote themselves, but one band in particular really shined on YOUTUBE. They have over 10 million hits for the video for their song, All the Sameù making it the #10 most viewed video of all time on the site. The video features Juan Mann, a friend of the band, holding a sign advertising free hugs at a busy mall. Although, the local council tried to ban Mann from the street, the story was able to create a petition with 10,000 signatures quieting that council. The warm and fuzzy video has clearly taken YOUTUBE by storm. Sick Puppies are a three piece guitar powered band out of Sydney with frontman Shimon Moore as vocals and guitarist, Emma Anzai on bass, and Mark Goodwin on drums. In 1997, Shimon and Emma met in the high school music room and learned that they had common interest in rock. They started jamming, formed the band and relocated to Los Angeles where they found their drummer. They've since won Best Live Actù at the Australian Music Awards and critical praise as the most dynamic new band in the countryù (Rolling Stone Australia) The Free Hugsù video, earned Sick Puppies exposure on Oprah, Jay Leno, "60 Minutesù and CNN. It also sparked free hugs campaigns all across the world. The band's success continues as the debut for their album Sick Puppies, Dressed Up As Life, is scheduled for April 10th, 2007.
