Slip knot: Simple & most popular method. First fold your scarf in half, then wrap around your neck and pull the loose ends through the looped end. Voila, the super chic no-fail approach to tying scarves. Ashlee Simpson is a fan of the Love Quotes by luvcharlie.com, as well as other styles. She often ties them up using the slip knot technique.
Tuck knot: Wrap the scarf around your neck as many times as you can, and tuck the ends underneath. This style looks best with dressy jackets and blazers because the scarf won't cover fabulous collars. Orlando Bloom often opts for this style with blazers and military jackets because the scarf rests within the collar rather than covering it up.
Wrap knot: Like above, without tucking the ends in. Just keep wrapping until you can't wrap comfortably anymore.
Asymetrical knot: Let one end hang and tuck the other out of sight.
No knot: Juts let it hang, baby! place middle of scarf against back of our neck & let both ends hang in front; best to use a scarf that has a little fray or tassles at the ends. Miley Cyrus likes a light, brightly patterned scarf over a tank and jeans.
Hollywood knot: It's the movie classic. Start with the "no knot" and dramatically sweep one end over your shoulder. Elegant and timeless; works well with bold, solid colors.
Purse knot: Pair a cute scarf with your favorite ladybag. Just a simple knot at the scarf's center around one of the straps near the base instantly sophisticates!
Bow tie knot: Very Greta Garbo. Wrap around your neck and tie a bow (just like your shoelaces) at the front.
Shoulder knot: Tie a large knot at the nape of your neck and let ends hang on opposite sides (back and front).
SQUARE SCARF BONUS!
Square knot: This only works with square scarves. Form a triangle by folding the square in half. Stretch the triangle in front of your neck (upside down, with the triangle pointing downward). Then wrap the ends around the back of your neck and let each end hang in front.
Country knot: Fold into a triangle like above, then knot in the back for a funky cowgirl/cowboy look.
