She & Him Re-Imagine "Baby, It's Cold Outside"

It’s that time of year again, you guys – when doe-eyed Zooey Deschanel somehow becomes the official voice of the Holiday Season. The phenomenon started last year, when she and her indie duo She & Him released a delightful little Christmas album, which she soon followed up with a hipsterific duet with Joseph Gorden-Levitt to ring in the New Year.

And now, Zooey and her partner in musical crime, M. Ward, are back to croon you into the holidays with their rendition of the slightly date-rapey classic, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.

As I am sure you will recall, this is not Zooey’s first rodeo with this song. She can be seen and heard singing it in the shower during an oddly endearing scene in the film Elf, accompanying by a wistful Will Ferrell. Not shockingly, this new version sounds pretty similar, except this one has an intriguing twist – Zooey takes on the man’s part this time, with M. as the slightly creeped out victim of the other’s aggressive holiday affections.

The video accompanying the track amps up the stalker vibe, with Zooey and M. as animated characters having themselves a very Merry Roofie Christmas. Uh-oh! Ah, but it’s all in good fun (I guess)…

Check out the new ultra-honest and gender-reversed version of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” below!
