The 1953 novel written by Elliott Chaze, titled Black Wings Has My Angel, has just been picked up by Cargo Entertainment to be adapted into a motion picture.
The project has been in the works for a while now but it has finally been cast: Anna Paquin ("True Blood"), Tom Hiddleston (Thor), and The Lord of the Rings’s Elijah Wood; however, specific roles have yet to be assigned, but we think it is safe to assume that Paquin will be playing the main female role.
The story follows an anti-hero and ex-convict, Tim Sunblade, who picks up a high-class call girl one night that ends up helping him in an armored car heist.
The script was collaboratively written by Barry Gifford, Christopher Peditto, and Alfonso Pineda Ula; Peditto is also producing the film and has been working on this project since it was first announced in 2007. Alfonso is a Mexican filmmaker who is attached to this film as the director, in addition to co-writing the script, and this film will actually be his first English-language feature as director.
The only time the book has been adapted to film was in France in 1990, so it will be very exciting to see what Hollywood makes of it! Shooting will being in September.
