Perry Twins: Good Boys Gone Bad

With the number one dance track in the US, my friends the Perry Twins chat with me about what it means to be a Bad Bad Boy.

Derek and Doug co-wrote the song, telling me that at first we didn't think Niki [Harris] would be into recording it, because most people associate a 'bad boy' with negative connotations. However, once she heard the lyrics, she got it and immediately connected with the whole idea. As Niki says, it's an Obama kind of bad. Someone who takes care of business - provides for their family and is a good role model.

Madonna fans instantly recognize Niki from her days backing the superstar. Teaming up with the Perry Twins quickly became her next great collaboration! We'd always been fans, the bros tell me. We were talking about our next single and said, 'wouldn't it be great to work with Niki Haris?' but brushed the thought aside - thinking it would probably just be something we dreamt about. Then the very next day her manager emailed us out of the blue ... we were so excited and knew that it was meant to be!

While they're a fierce tag team, they didn't always spin together. We eventually started to notice that we stood out more by DJ'ing together and the novelty of being twin DJs helped us book more gigs.

The added benefit is that they find it Way more fun working together than individually. It's a good thing they enjoy the company. The duo travels constantly. We're lucky to have each other to experience everything with. Most people who travel for business don't get to do so with their brother.

Aside from their many gigs, they add that We're working on a full length album which should hopefully be ready by next summer.
