Looking for a fun music festival this summer? Check out Outside Lands, a three-day music festival in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate Park, being held on August 10, 11, and 12. This is a unique festival that incorporates music, art, food, and sustainability. But because it is a music festival, after all, the lineup is the most important factor. Each year, the festival attracts big names as headliners, and the great thing about Outside Lands is that there are a variety of genres, so there’s something for everyone! This year’s lineup is undoubtedly the best yet, bringing back some of our favorite artists. Set to headline is: thrash metal band Metallica; music legend Stevie Wonder; classic rocker Neil Young and Crazy Horse; the former lead singer of The White Stripes, Jack White; alternative rock band Foo Fighters; electronic music sensation Justice... and countless others! For a full lineup, visit: http://lineup.sfoutsidelands.com/
Keeping up with the going-green trend, Outside Lands tries to be as eco-friendly as possible and offers services that festival goers can take part in, including valet bike parking and refillable water stations. Outside Lands recognizes that transportation to the festival has the potential to release harmful emissions into the environment, so free valet bike parking is available. The festival also offers shuttle passes to be purchased with pick up and drop off locations located throughout the city. And considering that parking in the park is limited, these are both good options if you don’t know the city very well. The festival is also accessible by public transportation -- if you think you can handle reading the confusing bus maps of San Francisco! The refillable water program is also a great service to take advantage of at the festival. By participating, you are helping cut down on the amount of plastic consumption while also saving yourself a few bucks.
Another unique area to check out at the festival is the food and wine sections. Say goodbye to gross concert food and immerse your taste buds in the outstanding cuisine Outside Lands has to offer! Each year, Outside Lands brings in one-of-a-kind food vendors for what they call A Taste of the Bay Area. This year, the festival is bringing in over forty vendors, most of which have permanent locations in the area. With all the options, you are bound to turn into a foodie, if you weren’t before. From pulled pork sandwiches and chicken curry plates to Korean tacos, they have it all! And if you want to keep it simple with some pizza, they have that too. And for all you wine-o’s out there, make sure you check out Wine Lands. Each year, the festival holds a special Wine Lands area for its 21+ guests to come try some new wines. With over thirty wines being showcased this year, it’s worth checking out!
Outside Lands is definitely a festival you don’t want to miss! General admission and VIP tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Outside lands website. So grab some friends and check it out!
