Oprah's Book Club Gets a 21st Century Upgrade

Say hello to Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club in the Digital Age!

Oprah is back to hitting the books with the latest edition of her infamous book club, casually known as Oprah’s Book Club 2.0. The updated version, which is a joint project between her cable network OWN and her O Magazine, kicks off with the memoir, Wild, Cheryl Strayed’s tale of her 1,100-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail in California and Washington. In addition to the traditional print version, which will include the circular Oprah Book Club logo, special e-reader editions will be released that include Oprah’s comments and a reader’s guide. Furthermore, readers of the book will be able to discuss their thoughts on it on through the club’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Time will only tell how successful the new book club will be. Back during the old Club’s heyday, Oprah helped turn many books into best sellers. So far, Wild has seen a mild bump on Amazon’s list, but the announcement for it was just made this last Friday and only factors in sales on Amazon.com.

To help promote the launch of the new book club, and to help get readers excited for a live interview with Cheryl Strayed on July 22, Oprah will be hosting weekly webisodes on her Website to discuss more of her thoughts on Wild.
