One Direction's Three-Concert Feat in Two Days

All of Southern California was in a fangirl frenzy this past weekend, and it was all due in large part to five of the hottest European blokes in the pop music industry right now. That’s right, the boys of One Direction were in town!

Comprised of Englishmen Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Irishman Niall Horan, 1D held not one, not two, but THREE concerts all over the Los Angeles and Orange County areas this past weekend.

The first two (both an evening and a matinee show) were held at Los Angeles’s Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City Walk on June 16, and the third was held at Anaheim’s Honda Center the following day, June 17.

The scope of these shows was amazing, and, quite honestly, loud. Many a fan was there at all shows, cheering on the boys who became famous after placing third in the UK "X Factor" audition in 2010.

Fans lucky enough to grab tickets to the shows before they sold out in March were treated to many theatrics that make going to a 1D show so great.

All part of the North American leg of the Up All Night Tour, Directioners (the nickname of the 1D fanbase) were welcomed to each of the venues by Olly Murs, a British singer, fellow "X Factor UK" alum, and 1D’s opening act.

At the evening show at Gibson Amphitheatre, Murs relived his "X Factor" audition with a lively rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”. He performed some of his UK hits, including “Oh My Goodness” and “Dance With Me Tonight”. Murs then later closed his set with his latest U.S. single, “Heart Skips a Beat” off his upcoming In Case You Didn’t Know EP.

When the boys of One Direction finally came on stage, not a person (young or old) in the sold out Gibson Amphitheatre was sitting down quiet. Everyone was up dancing along, cheering, and jumping up and down to the entire performance featuring tracks from the boys’ debut Up All Night album.

One of the most interesting parts of the show was when the boys took a break from singing and answered a select few fans’ Twitter questions. The tweet Q&A session included rapping and the boys showing off their best Shakira dance moves.

Fans at the shows even included many celebs. Kate Beckinsale, Rebecca Black, and Big Time Rush’s Carlos Pena attended the Anaheim show on Sunday night, while Victoria Justice and Madison Pettis attended the evening show in L.A.

When the show was over, and 1D had sung all of their 12-song set, including the mega-hit “What Makes You Beautiful” and the latest U.S. single “One Thing”, not a Directioner in the house was left unsatisfied with the performance of one of the fastest selling acts in pop music history.

The past three shows 1D did in California this weekend were definitely record-worthy. Just the thought of three concerts in two days is enough to even get us tired, but after a short vacation for the boys, they will return back on the road on Saturday to perform in Dallas’s Gexa Energy Pavillon.

And for the fans that can’t get enough of 1D, there are still chances to buy tickets for their 2013 world tour! Check here for details!
