It is official: the escalating stardom of the Icelandic band, Of Monsters and Men, refuses to slow down. The group just released a new music video for the song “Mountain Sound”, another hit indie track that has us dancing in our seats, and with the new music video, we will be sure to have this catchy tune caught in our heads even more often!
The theme of the video is a live stage performance to a large crowd. Immediately after I watched the clip, I checked Ticketmaster to see when Of Mice and Men would be in L.A. to see them live -- It seems that watching them in concert would be an interactive experience for the crowd. What would be a better way to spend an afternoon than going to a park, throwing paper lamps, and jumping around with this band and 1,000 other people? This fun performance allows the audience to see the playful side of the band preforming at a hometown event.
Other than the unique folk-like sound that this band produces, I find their personal style intriguing. Has anyone else noticed the adorable scarves and hats worn by Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir? Her down-to-earth, bohemian vibe is infectious with her adorable prints and maxi skirts. The entire band upholds a unique appearance that separates the band from the usual mainstream cookie-cutter popstars.
It is evident that this band has upheld their values in producing each song on the record as a hit. Their last release of “Little Talks” reached commercial success, landing Top 20 in over 5 countries and #1 on the U.S.'s Alternative Songs chart. The highly imaginative video also gained over 25 million views on YouTube and a coveted spot on the YH Studio couch this summer! Blending their poetic lyrics and popular instrumentals, it is hard to compare other groups to this breakout band of 2012.
