In Hollywood, we raise awareness with a big celebrity party. Fair enough. At an event last week, "America’s Got Talent" finalist Jackie Evancho performed during an evening that brought the Chefs together with The Humane Society of the United States.
By gathering like-minded individuals, they aim to convince Canada's fishing industry to stop participating in the bloody commercial seal slaughter each spring in the Atlantic Ocean.
As "House M.D." star Lisa Edelstein said of her friend Nigel’s philanthropic endeavors, “I think he has taken the attention from his show ('America’s Next Top Model') and turned it into really valuable projects. It is just great to support that in any way I can.”
So far, go good! The campaign has attracted unwavering support with more than 5,500 establishments and 650,000 individuals around the world pledging to avoid some or all Canadian seafood.
