Meet Kaylah Marin (www.myspace.com/kaylahmarin) - a hot vocal act on Next Music. She's burning up the scene with her single On the Floor, which offers but a taste of her mixed-bag of talents.

To create thumping house remixes, Kaylah has hooked up with no.1 Billboard DJs the Perry Twins.

Natch, I run into half of the duo, Doug Perry {his brother out elsewhere} at Kaylah's listening party. The red carpet event has attracted many other dance music moguls, like my pal Casey Alva, who I recently talked to about tips for aspiring DJs. The crowd is full of mix masters, producers, performers and even a few go-go dancers!

Kaylah and I meet backstage as she preps for her performance: Three months in the making, it's all to celebrate her solo debut. "The eleven songs on the album emerged from a long year of not knowing what direction to take my creative life in, and finally having the opportunity to do what I was meant to do and truly live my art," she says.

"I know it's almost a given for performers that come out of the San Francisco scene to be political in their songs," Kaylah says, "but my goal is always to write songs that are poppy and fun to listen to, simple and palatable but come from a deeper place inside me."

Working with some of the top producers in the music industry, she's breaking out on the music scene with her single On the Floor, available on iTunes now.
