Newcomer Scores Plum Role as Keith Richards for Hendrix Biopic

Little-known actor Ashley Charles has been cast as Keith Richards in All Is By My Side, the upcoming biopic about the life of Jimi Hendrix. Directed by John Ridley, Charles joins Andre 3000 (who will play Hendrix), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) , and  Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Richards’s girlfriend, Linda Keith, who first discovered Hendrix performing in a nightclub.
 
Currently shooting in Dublin, the film focuses on Hendrix’s pre-fame years. Producers have stated that the film’s material was actually based on real interview with Hendrix, as well as archival footage. It is not yet known how much Side will incorporate Hendrix’s music. This is not Andre 3000’s first role, as the lead singer of OutKast has appeared in a number of films, including Idlewild, Be Cool, and Four Brothers. This is Charles’ debut performance, as the British actor has only appeared in a short entitled White Buffalo.
