You know you grew up in the '80s if you rocked a mullet or big teased hair, you wore neon leg warmers, you played the game "MASH", and you memorized all the lyrics to “Nasty” by Miss Jackson. Remember: “My first name ain't Baby -- it's Janet. Miss Jackson, if you're nasty." I’m bringing it back to the old school days. I may be biased, but I think the '80s were, like, totally rad!
Janet Jackson made her debut in one of the best decades for music. She may have been the youngest Jackson, but she stole the thunder with her empowering songs, incredible dance technique, stage presence, and sex appeal. You could always count on Miss Jackson to push the boundaries a little and do something different and provocative. She’s made her fair share of headlines for controversial “wardrobe malfunctions”, namely at the Superbowl Halftime Show.
Janet Jackson is a megastar in her own right. She’s not only a best-selling artist, but a true pop icon. She’s taken the R&B and pop music worlds to record-breaking heights. Miss Jackson has also had much success in the television and film industry. In 2011, she explored new territory when she co-authored a book entitled True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself. It’s plain to see that Janet Jackson is always looking for new outlets to express and reinvent herself.
Miss Jackson has left a legacy, and it’s hard to believe that she’s been around for 25+ years! I mean, does she look any different to you? Wait in line... I’ve already requested her magic recipe. Well fans, the time has come -- get those mirrors squeaky clean because we’re going to rock out to some of Janet Jackson’s greatest hits (choreography and all). In honor of our beloved idol’s birthday today, let’s take a walk down memory lane! (Keep your eyes peeled for a couple of past and present "American Idol" judges in these vids!)
