Irish-German actor Michael Fassbender has been riding the Hollywood fast track over the past few years, having played roles in blockbuster films like 300, Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class, and, most recently, as troubled sex addict Brandon in Shame.
Although working in the American film industry, Fassbender is still loyal to his Irish roots and is reportedly developing a film with screenwriter Ronan Bennett about the Irish warrior Cuchulain. Cuchulain is the hero of an old Irish legend with superhuman fighting skills and is the character that Fassbender would of course be playing. He also happens to have a little bit of experience playing a fighter from the Neil Marshall film titled Centurion and having a role in the one-and-only fighting film, 300.
Because of Fassbender’s quick rise to stardom, he is able to develop this film with his new (and impeccably-named) production company, Finn McCool, which is helping to raise money for the creation of the film, considering it is so close to Michael’s heart.
But when will he find time to make this film with an X-Men sequel in progress and his other upcoming roles in Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Counselor, and Steve McQueen’s next film Twelve Years A Slave?
Well, good luck, Michael, we wish you the best with your funding for the Cuchulain film and can’t wait to see you in your slew of other upcoming films!
