Why do we always want what we can’t have? Could it be that, sometimes, curiosity gets the best of us? And why do we put so much emphasis on our looks? So what if you’re a little shorter/taller than the average person, you’re a little curvier/slimmer than the girl next door, your nose has a characteristic bump on it, you have freckles on your face, your hair is Pippi Longstocking-red, and you have ginormous bunions on your feet? Maybe I’m just projecting my own insecurities onto y’all, but I doubt that I’m the only one who admires the green grass on the other side of the fence. Especially when the grass belongs to that of a celeb, specifically Liv Tyler.
Here is a girl who seems to have it all. A stunning face, to-die-for figure, successful career, money to spare (mo’ money, mo’ problems), a rock legend dad, and an adorable son. Yes, most of the items I listed are materialistic, but I don’t have much dirt on Liv. She leads a very private life and I commend her for that. Although Liv seems to have it made, her lifestyle surely comes with a price tag. Namely, the paparazzi! I must say, though, after 27+ films in an 18-year span, numerous commercials, and lord knows how many magazine covers later, this actress and model has handled her fame with much poise and grace.
Liv’s had quite an interesting upbringing. Her mother, Bebe Buell, was a model, former Playboy Playmate, and a singer. Her “spiritual father” (as Liv called him), Todd Rundgren, was also a musician. Liv found out that Steven Tyler was her biological father when she was 9 years old. She went to an Aerosmith concert and saw her half-sister, Mia, and was stunned by their striking resemblance. Liv then approached her mother about this matter and learned the truth about Steven Tyler. Liv has since had a close relationship with her father. They’ve worked on a few projects together, including the music video for Aerosmith’s “Crazy” and the Armageddon film.
Liv has clearly inherited more than a gorgeous set of full lips and beautiful genes from her family. Liv was born with the need to entertain and realized her calling from a very young age. She pursued modeling when she was 14. Soon after, however, Liv switched career paths and decided to take up acting. It was her breakthrough screen role in Stealing Beauty, directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, that put Liv on the map. She then achieved commercial success with her performances in several high profile flicks, including Armageddon, the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and The Incredible Hulk. Liv’s modeling career has also been nothing short of stellar. She has appeared in campaigns for Pantene, Bongo Jeans, and Givenchy, among others.
In case you were wondering, Liv has a charitable side too! She supports both the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Women’s Cancer Research Fund. Now I understand why we want things we can’t have. We see people like Liv who portray the essence of classic beauty and we can’t help but feel a little bit envious. And yes, the grass sure looks greener on Liv’s side of the fence. Nonetheless, we should all be grateful for what we have and celebrate our own milestones. But first, let’s celebrate Liv Tyler’s Birthday (July 1) with some of her most gorgeous looks. Happy Birthday, Liv!
