Music superstar Jay-Z has teamed up with his Shawn Carter Foundation to raise money by auctioning off 10 limited edition “Carter 4” jerseys autographed by the hip hop mogul himself. The proceeds of the auction will be donated to the charity, which in turn helps fund education for individuals in financial distress.
The black and white jersey, which features “Brooklyn” on the front (naturally!), was designed by Adidas and inspired by the new colors and design of the Barclays Center basketball court (below).
Jay-Z, who owns a small share in the Brooklyn Nets, helped celebrate the new Center by busting out a string of 8 shows – talk about dedication and giving back to his community! During one of his shows, Hova told the crowd, “I believe everybody in the world is born with genius level talent. Apply yourself to whatever you're genius at and you can do anything in the world.”
The signed limited edition jerseys are currently available for bidding at Auctions.NBA.com (just in time for the Knicks vs. Nets game on November 1) through Wednesday, October 31.
The proceeds go toward a great cause, so whether you are a Knicks fan, a Jay-Z fan, or both -- everybody is a winner!
