“Joyce Smith in the 8th grade wanted to hit me in the face because I was too happy,” Kristin Chenoweth tells me while we’re sitting in an Oscar Mayer Weinermobile (yes, seriously). “I’m the perfect person to do this job!”
Kristin’s (one of my favorites on ‘Glee’) is on a mission to help the American Hunger Relief Organization. “They want to raise 2 millions pounds of food. So they donated 1 million, we’re asking Americans to match that donation,” she explains. To do so, just share a good mood on the website (GoodMoodMission.com). For every good mood, a pound of food is donated. What’s Kristin’s good mood moment? “Finding five dollars in my pocket!” Some of the best advice Kristin’s ever gotten? “That’s easy. I asked the question, what advice can you give me? They said; if you see yourself doing anything else and being happy, do it. But if you don’t see yourself dong anything else and being happy and content, then don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t.” “Let’s face it, I’m 4’1”, I have a very interesting speaking voice, I sing opera,” she laughs. “There are so many dichotomies here! “I’m sure there were people that were naysayers. So my message is, whatever makes you happy; go for it! Follow your heart.” “I had good parents who said believe in yourself,” she adds. “If you believe in yourself, you’ve got it made.” Her parents also instilled the idea of giving back. “We’re not fancy people,” says the Oklahoma native. “My parents taught me one of my purposes in life was to give back and to take care of people who can’t take care of themselves.” “When Oscar Mayer asked me to do this, I was like…YAH!”
Take 10 seconds to share a good mood and add one more pound to the meter!
