Watch our video interview with Kid Cudi With the success of his big breakout single, the infectious Day 'n' Night, he was instantly touted as the next big thing. Most artists would let go to their head, but this development troubled Kid Cudi. "Early on in my career, I was really worried about being covered up with all this hype," he says.
Many people get hyped up, but they fail to deliver. This doesn't seem to be a problem, thankfully. "At this point, it's not hype anymore," he adds. "The kids are really getting involved with what I'm saying. Now, I have a nice following. I have a solid fan base and it's growing every day." Overall, "It's overwhelming," he says of the response to his music. In the video for Day 'n' Night, the rapper shows off his acting ability with his portrayal of a clerk at a convenience store fighting off the boredom of the late shift. Those skills will be put to the test when he makes his small screen debut. In the fall, I start shooting an HBO show, How To Make It In America, it's a comedy series," he says. "It's my first real [acting] project. I'm really excited about it." As for his other upcoming projects: "I got a couple schemes," he teases. "But it's top secret right now."
