Kelly Clarkson has been a household name since 2002, when she won the title of "American Idol". Since then, her career has sky-rocketed. Over the past decade, she has gone on to produce four albums that have been worldwide hits, reflected in the 20 million album sales. Clarkson has also collected many awards, including two Grammys, two American Music Awards, and two MTV VMAs. Despite her continuing successes in her own career, Clarkson hasn’t forgotten where she started: "I'm super-proud of how I got in the business,” the singer has said, and in the past year, she has returned to the scene of singing television competitions that made her a household name.
This year, Clarkson appeared on TV once more as a mentor during Season Two of "The Voice". Teaming up with judge Blake Shelton, she helped coach the show’s participants to become stage-ready. Kelly is the perfect person to give advice to contestants, considering she was one of the first to make a career out of her success on a TV show, and she understands how it feels to be both a contestant and a critic. Following her appearances on "The Voice", Clarkson has also signed on to take part on another new competition series, "Duets", which premiered on May 24. "Duets" is unique because it shows the celebrities singing with the contestants, a new twist that has not been incorporated in previous singing shows and is an intriguing concept. Clarkson is joined by co-stars John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, and Robin Thicke as they compete with their protégés/duet partners to be the best, creating not only competition between the contestants but among the stars themselves. "Duets" airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
It seems as if Kelly’s got it all these days. With two successful television shows and a hit music career, her life shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Clarkson recently released a new single, “Dark Side”, that she preformed on the season finale of "Dancing With The Stars" and has also just released her 2012 international tour dates. She will be traveling with The Fray to over 30 cities around the globe starting at the end of June.
Despite her enormous successes over the years, it is nice to see her giving back to the platforms that helped launch her career!
