Katy Perry Serves Jungle Realness in "Roar" Video!
Written by Katie Marzullo

You know that old chestnut: Boy meets Girl, Boy takes girl on a jungle tour, Boy’s plane crashes, Boy treats Girl badly then gets eaten by a tiger, Girl becomes queen of the jungle… It’s a tale as old as time, and it forms the basis for Katy Perry’s music video for her new single “Roar”!

Perry’s signature flirty sense of humor comes through as loud and clear as her jungle call in this one, showing her going from a meek First World pushover to a strong independent woman who willingly locks herself in a cage with a man-eating feline just so she can yell at it. The aesthetic harkens back to the pulp fiction novels of the ‘40s and ‘50s, featuring scantily-clad jungle goddesses overcoming the elements while keeping their hair and make-up flawless.

Keep an eye out for the twist ending – it was all just a dream!

… OR WAS IT???
