Katy Perry is "Wide Awake" in Poignant New Vid

Taking off where “California Gurls” left off, Katy Perry takes us on a mystical journey through a strange world in her music video for “Wide Awake”.
“Wide Awake” is Katy’s latest single off of her album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. The single was written by Katy for her upcoming 3D blockbuster release Katy Perry: Part of Me, which tells the tale of Katy’s childhood, her rise to fame, and even her recent divorce from funny man Russell Brand.
Her video for “Wide Awake” starts off with the 27-year-old singer wrapping up her video for “Teenage Dream”. Katy then walks to her dressing room, and that’s when the world around her fizzles from existence, leaving her trapped in a maze with some fanciful land. In this maze, Katy faces several obstacles, including hordes of paparazzi, two Minotaurs, and even a prince who lies about his love. Could each of these possibly be a metaphor for different parts of Katy’s life?
Don’t worry, fans, Katy doesn’t have to face these obstacles alone. She is joined by a young Katy look-a-like to escape the maze. The video ends with Katy saying goodbye to the young girl, who then hops on her pink bike to reveal a license plate reading “Katheryn”. This explains why she looked so much like Katy -- it’s a younger version of her!
This magical video ends with Katy back in her dressing room preparing to go on stage for concert. Check out the whole video below!
