I’m a big, fat crybaby. I sob every time I watch Mrs. Doubtfire, I whimper during a sappy "American Idol" episode, and I’m a sucker for Love Songs on the KOST. It’s no surprise, then, that I had an Oscar-worthy breakdown at Josh Groban’s concert last August. There I was, amongst all the couples; a boyfriend and girlfriend to my right, a couple celebrating their 30th anniversary to my left, and my sister and I sandwiched right in between. Enter Josh with his first song of the night, “You Are Loved (Don’t Give Up)”, and my waterwork extravaganza was in full effect.
Hello, my name is Rita, and I’m a sappy hopeless romantic. Unrealistic in love? Yes. Proud Grobanite? You bet ya! Hoping, wishing, and praying I’ll meet Josh Groban one day and we’ll fall madly in love? I’ve already put in a few requests with Cupid, the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause, and the Easter Bunny. Why am I so smitten? Well, Josh’s killer sense of humor, silky voice, beautiful locks, golden heart, and smokin’ hot looks have unleashed my inner tiger. Now that I’ve made you nauseous with all this puppy-love talk, I’ll move on.
Last week, I happened to be surfing Twitter and, you know, casually reading Josh’s tweets, and I stumbled upon the most exciting news! On June 28th, Josh will be performing at a benefit concert for the Los Angeles High School Arts and his very own Find Your Light Foundation. He has first-hand experience with the arts program at LAHSA, so he knows the impact they have on children’s and young adults' lives. This special event will help raise support to keep these quality programs in place, and it will also create awareness for Josh’s foundation.
The mission of the Find Your Light Foundation is to “help enrich the lives of young people through arts, education, and cultural awareness.” Two great causes + one intimate “Evening With Josh Groban” at The Walt Disney Concert Hall = An unforgettable night for everyone involved. If you have “plans” that evening... just cancel them. You don’t want to miss this opportunity at such a gorgeous venue! Tickets may be available here or here. See you there with my date (a kleenex box)!
