Even before Idol, Jordin was on her way to fame. She scored the AI recording contract the same way she had gotten into Seventeen magazine the year before; she won!

As a Next Plus Size Model contest winner, Jordin and six others were used in Torrid ads and promotional pieces, complete with the Seventeen ad.

Her beauty was only part of the package, of course, and Miss Thing had also won talent contests as well. This was not some little girl waiting around to be discovered. She made it happen.

When Idol came through town, she took her shot and the rest is history.

But guaranteed chart-topping success is part of the prize. Previous winners can attest that AI does not necessarily turn each and every season's champ into a Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood.

It just doesn't work that way.

Even in triumph, there's more work to be done. Girlfriend had to knock one out in the studio. So she did! The mega-success of this summer's No Air with Chris Brown put her right on target. With her debut album doing well on the charts, her star power is rising - as well it should. She's got the pipes to blow the roof off the place.

At nearly six feet tall (she's 5' 11ù to be exact), Jordin's vocal talent isn't the only thing to tower over other singers. In the land of toothpick limbs and lollipop heads, she's a fresh break from the crowd. As a plus-size model her positive self-image inspires young girls to be themselves.
