“I remember a time in my life when I was terrified to play in front of people. I wouldn’t even tell my closest friends when I was performing at an open mic night. I would lay in my bed and dream of everything I’m doing now, but I couldn’t conquer my fears. Then I learned to push through my fears. Push it out of the way and say, ‘No! This is my life. I’m going to live it. I’m going to dream huge. And I’m going to watch those dreams come true.’ I have realized in my two short years as a professional musician that I am the only person standing in my way. I’m certainly not perfect and I certainly don’t remember this everyday, but the days I do...”

 

That’s when the Christina Perri magic happens. Today, we celebrate two years of that magic. The two-year anniversary of Christina Perri’s career. We remember it like it was yesterday. That life-changing moment when she performed “Jar of Hearts” on the stage of “So You Think You Can Dance”; Her emotional and gut-wrenching performance that left but not a single dry eye in the house. We were all mesmerized and captivated by Christina Perri. We thought to ourselves, “Who is this girl?” We wanted to hear more from her, so we did some stalking and found her on iTunes. We literally watched her rise to fame overnight with her single release, album release, and multiple tours. This past weekend, we watched Perri make another dream come true.

 

I would call this a pinch-worthy dream, but wait -- before I tell you the dream, I must preface it. In 2009 (New Years Eve), Perri made a list to the Universe and asked for a few things. Number four on that list was to “meet Jason Mraz.” The Universe did more than answer her question, grant her wish, whatever ya want to call it. Perri met Mraz, but the fairytale did not end there. Perri and Mraz are now pals! Yup, and... AND she’s joining him on tour. But there’s more. Something happened that was beyond Perri’s wildest dreams. Perri collaborated with Mraz on her latest single, “Distance”. Yes, she got to duet with Jason Mraz, and I’m sure it was heavenly!

 

At least, heavenly music to our ears! “Distance” is a heartfelt song with a beautiful melody, words, and two phenomenal voices. Anyone who’s been in love and/or has felt heartache will undoubtedly have an emotional connection to this song. Perri’s and Mraz’s chemistry is infectious and magical (there’s that word again). They’ve officially crooned their way into our hearts and we can’t keep our distance from this incredible duo! You can purchase tickets to see them on tour here.
