Jack Black and Jason Segel "Rockify" a Holiday Classic
Written by Katie Marzullo
Not since Bing Crosby rocked out with David Bowie in the '70s has "Little Drummer Boy" gotten such an inspired treatment.
Now, Gulliver's Travels stars, Jason Segel and Jack Black, are teaming up to give the holiday classic a modern reboot with "Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy 2010". The song was released just today (December 7) and is available for purchase exclusively on iTunes. And if that isn't enough, Segel and Black also premiered an accompanying video on CollegeHumor.com. The animated clip brings together the two funnymen in eerily accurate cartoon likenesses, as they combine their dulcet harmonies against backdrops of sunbeams, singing angels, gingerbread guitars, and a log piano. If that doesn't dump a big, steaming pile of holiday cheer into your Santa-shaped cocoa mug, then you're just hopeless.
Oh, but here's the best part -- all proceeds from the sale of this song will go towards the Blue Star Families foundation, which supports military families and helps them lead a more sustainable existence in times of separation. So, in one fell swoop, you can be entertained all season long AND help out a good cause. Holiday cheer ACCOMPLISHED. You're welcome.
