Incubus knows how to party like rock stars. The name Incubus refers to a demon in male form that lies among female sleepers in order to have sexual intercourse with them and sustain their own lives. Rock on. Originally the band was called Kansas City Shuffle but when they started working full-time on their careers they went with their dark side on the new name. They can call themselves whatever they would like as long as front man Brandon Boyd continues melting our hearts with his distinctive voice. The alternative rock band hailing from Calabasas, California has been gracing the stage since high-school. It was at that time that 15 year-old bad boy Brandon got his first tattoo. The band recorded their first album, a compilation of demos called Fungus Amongus. Incubus released their first full length album under their own label due to lack of interest in their project. It goes to show what believing in yourself can lead you to achieve. After performing in clubs all over Los Angeles, the band landed a record deal with Immortal/Epic Records. In 1996 they toured and established themselves as strong live act; their first major tour was with Korn in Europe and they went on to participate in numerous tours like The Warped Tour, opening for 311, System of a Down and Ozzfest. The second album, S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was released in 1997. It was during this time when the band let go of band mate Gavin Koppell, claiming creative and personal differences. Chris Kilmore joined the band after displaying great chemistry with the group during a few performances. In 2003, they added Ben Kenney to the Bass after losing Alex Katunich. Those minor set-backs didn't stop the band from making great music and raising money for multiple charities. Their talents generosity are endless. Brandon and Jose spent 50 hours working on all of the artwork for the Drive video and Brandon is also an awesome poet. With a growing number of fans from the tour, Incubus released Make Yourself, which was certified double platinum and rose to number 41 on the Billboard's Album Chart. The single Pardon Me blazed radio airways and was the biggest single off of the album. The band gained more commercial success with their fourth album Morning View in 2001. Since then they have released two more albums and are currently touring all over Europe for their most recent album Light Grenades which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Charts.Recently, Michael Einziger had surgery to relieve his Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. With the member swap, lack of support from labels and constant touring nothing has been able to stop Incubus from rocking our world.
