No doubt cognizant of the success of their mock teaser-trailer promoting Billy Crystal’s hosting gig, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have now teamed up with the authority in online comedy content, Funnyordie.com, to produce another chuckle-worthy video ahead of the Big Night on Sunday.
This time around, they recruited actual past Oscar winner Kevin Kline (who has been noticeably off the grid for some time now, no?) to co-star with Mike Myers (another erstwhile talent), who reaches into his famous bag of character tricks to introduce the world to Sir Cecil Worthington. It is Sir Cecil’s honorable duty to teach Academy Award winners the proper way to handle their precious Oscar, and he’s got his beady little eyes set on Mr. Kline... clearly overdue, as it’s been 23 years since Kevin won his Oscar (Best Supporting Actor for A Fish Called Wanda), but better late than never!
Sir Cecil puts Sir Kevin through the paces, beckoning him to a (very fancy) safe house and teaching him the right way to hold the statuette (“keep the thumb below the bum!”) and where to display it, rewarding all correct answers with a fun-size Snickers! It’s a rigorous course – how does Kevin fare?? Well, just find out below!
Be sure to catch the Academy Awards this Sunday, February 26, on ABC. Future Oscar winners, prepare yourself for Sir Cecil’s strict instruction!
