An “In Living Color” reboot? We almost couldn’t believe it ourselves, folks, but YES, you heard it right!
It seems as though the '90s sketch comedy series is up for a revival, and if all goes well, it will premiere sometime in the fall 2012 season lineup of primetime television.
FOX originally announced plans to collaborate with original “In Living Color” creator Keenan Ivory Wayans for a modern revamp back as early as October of 2011, all in an effort to celebrate the anniversary of the launch of the original series in 1990.
Well, after some patient waiting for the next move to be made, new and old fans of the series can now rejoice in that there is already a line-up of new faces to look forward to for the fall release.
Some names being thrown around the Hollywood rumor mill include Jennifer Bartels, Josh Duvendeck, Jermaine Fowler, Kali Hawk (you’ve probably seen her on “New Girl”), “Lil' Rel” Howery, and Maronzio Vance.
And if all goes well, these stars have the potential to become household names!
The original series of “In Living Color,” which debuted back in 1990 to amazing viewership and lasted for 5 stellar seasons, is responsible for launching the careers of some of today’s film, TV, and music superstars, including Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, The Wayans Brothers (Damon, Keenan, Shawn, and Marlon), David Alan Grier, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Laurie Ann Gibson. Earlier this year, the original cast reunited to accept the Groundbreaking Award from the TV Land Awards.
The 2012 revamp will still only be given an initial two-special run, just to test the waters and see if fans will actually watch and enjoy the new face-lift of the original '90s classic, but if the new show is anything like what some people are nostalgic for from back in the day, then FOX will surely pick it up for a regular series run!
Three snaps in Z formation, because “In Living Color” is back!
