With the economy in this country the way it is these days (that is, in the stinker), college grads are finding it increasingly difficult to put that hard-earned degree to practical use. Economy or not, this has always been the case with students pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. A Bachelor's or even a Master's degree does not guarantee a steady paycheck in Hollywood. For every job opening that gets posted, an average of at least a thousand resumés can and do flood in for that position. How in the world is one supposed to stand out against all that competition? That is where Ryan Kahn and the folks at MTV's new show "Hired!" come in. Ryan is a professional Career Coach for the University of Dreams, hand-picked by the creator of "Hired!" to be the show's on-camera job recruiter. He explains how it all came together: "At the time [development], it was an idea on paper, but we all believed in it. I started working with the producer and he filmed the pilot episode. The first place the producer took the pilot was its natural home, MTV, because this is a show for recent grads. They loved the show, and a few months later we filmed 20 episodes."
Ryan Kahn, recruiter extraordinaire
The premise of the show is simple "" following a group of recent college grads on their quest for their first big job in the dreaded real world. We see the entire process "" Meeting with the Recruiter (Ryan), the First Interview, the Callback, and all culminating in the Final Decision. And they don't mess around either "" prepare to hear some harsh truths! What's so great about this show is that it's not just another reality/documentary series; It strives to show you a practical idea of what it actually takes to land that dream job! Entertaining and informative "" just how we like it! "We are helping pull the economy out of the recession one episode at a time," adds Ryan.
You can view the first episode on MTV's Website. "Hired!" airs daily at 6:30pm on MTV.
