At long last, kimosabe!
If you’ve been following the trades, then you are likely full aware of the drama surrounding Disney’s big screen adaptation of popular 1950s TV series “The Lone Ranger”. With casting snafus and budget debacles being just some of the issues, for a while it seemed like this project would never see the light of day. Welp, all problems seem to have been solved once and for all, and we’re finally being treated to the first official trailer for the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced summer ’13 blockbuster!
Up until now, we haven’t known very many details of the film, other than it would be starring sex-on-a-stick Armie Hammer as the titular hero, and Johnny Depp as his Native American sidekick, Tonto. A few production stills here and there have shown the two in their intriguing costumes, but that’s about it.

All you need to know.
Now that there’s a trailer… well, I’m still not 100% clear on what we are to expect when this thing is all said and done. We get the general gist about the Lone Ranger’s origins as a Texas Ranger-turned-masked vigilante for justice in the Old West, and the plot seems to revolve around the building of the Transcontinental Railroad, which, if you’re savvy to your American History, you’ll know was kind of a big deal to Native Americans (and not in a good way).
With Bruckheimer producing, and Gore Verbinski directing, there’s very little room for error here, and with a supporting cast including the ubiquitous Helena Bonham Carter and the always reliable William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, and Tom Wilkinson, I will remain cautiously optimistic.
But I shall let y’all make up your own minds… Check out the trailer for The Lone Ranger below!
