Colorado native, Heidi Montag, is a reality television star that virtually seemed to rise to fame overnight. You can even say she came upon stardom accidentally. The 21 year old originally moved to Los Angeles to start a career in fashion. While studying at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, she shared an apartment with her friend Lauren Conrad. In the summer of 2005, Lauren started to film the MTV reality series, Laguna Beach, and because the show was shot in Lauren's apartment, Heidi was featured from time to time in the series. Heidi left school in the fall of 2005, when she was hired as an intern at Bolthouse Productions. Within the next couple of years, Heidi was promoted to event planner at the company and decided not to return to fashion school.Heidi's life changed when Lauren started to shoot The Hills, a spin-off reality show of Laguna Beach. The show chronicled Lauren's life and, as one of her closest friends, Heidi was regularly featured in the show. She appeared in all three seasons of the show and became a recognizable face to reality show lovers everywhere. She hit a bit of a snag in her friendship with Lauren, and it is currently unclear whether she will appear in future seasons of the show, but Heidi is already hard at work on other ventures.In addition to her interest in fashion and acting, Heidi is an aspiring singer. In early 2007 she began to work with talented producer, David Foster, on some songs. Her first song, Body Language, premiered in August, 2007 on a local Los Angeles radio station and featured a rap by her boyfriend, Spencer Pratt. According to Heidi, though she has collaborated with Foster, she will be working with another producer and self releasing her debut album. On February 5, 2008, Heidi released her first single, Higher, exclusively on iTunes. Spencer also shot a video to accompany the song, which is also available for sale on iTunes.Even though Heidi is predominantly concentrating on her acting and music careers, she is also gaining a foothold in the fashion industry. She recently signed on to be the spokesperson for Anchor Blue Clothing Company and will design her own line, HeidiWood, for the company. The line will consist of tops, pants, tees and accessories for Juniors, and will be sold for an affordable price. Her clothing will be available at Anchor Blue stores everywhere in late February, 2008.Because Heidi is in the spotlight, she is often watched closely and judged for every little thing she does. Despite the negative comments she receives about her relationship to Spencer and her new career ventures, she manages to rise above it all. Her ability to take a risk and carve new paths in her life is proof positive that challenging yourself can often lead to bigger and better things. She may be the target of criticism at times, but her positive energy, determination and motivation is sure to always make her come out on top!
