Gwen Stefani is like the P. Diddy of the music. She not only dominates the music scene, she has her very own clothing line (which may I add, is fabulous), and has recently launched a self-titled perfume. Now, not only can you listen to her music and wear her clothes, but you can smell like the blonde bombshell/rock star.Gwen Renee Stefani was born October 3, 1969 in the town of Fullerton, California. Her family possessed great interest in the art of music and were the ones who introduced the soon to be entrepreneur to the sounds of Bob Dylan. Gwen soon started to grow her own sense of music preference, closely paying attention to the styles and techniques in musicals such as her two favorites, The Sound of Music, and Evita.
Although her parents loved music, they did far from encourage their daughter to pursue her passion; in fact, her parents once told her that it would be quite the waste of time to take voice lessons, as in their words, her voice was loopy and unpredictable. I doubt they are saying that now!Despite the discouragement Gwen felt toward her dreams, she decided to give music a shot. In 1992, Gwen debuted as the lead singer in ska band, No Doubt. While the band did not receive much acclaim until 1995, Gwen stuck with it. The album The Tragic Kingdom (their 2nd album as a group), rocked our worlds with the single, I'm just a Girl, and was an undeniable success.Success is all that followed for the California native. Five years after milking The Tragic Kingdom of all the hit singles that dominated the billboard charts, No Doubt came out with their final album as a band entitled, Return of Saturn. This album received mediocre acclaim. Gwen decided it was time for a change.Gwen released her very first solo album, Love, Angel, Music, Baby. Of course, Gwen took the world by storm and gained much deserved respect as a solo artist. Her second solo album, Sweet Escape, was nothing shy of perfect. Gwen brought a new sound to the world of rock/pop and gained a fan base incomparable to that of No Doubt.Several Billboard 100 hit singles and a music resume to brag about, it is safe to say that Gwen Stefani not only nailed the music biz, but also conquered the dream of proving people wrong. The Sweet Escape, one of Young Hollywood's absolute favorite tunes, is nominated for most earth shattering collaboration, with the talented Akon at the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, which will be live from Las Vegas. Good luck Gwenie!
