Getting Closure with The Closer |
|

Despite critical acclaim and award nominations, you may be missing out on The Closer. Here's why you should be watching.
When the series debuted in 2005, I must admit I had no idea what it was about and sort of ignored the thing. While I've always liked Kyra Sedgewick there aren't any boyish mega-hotties that co-star; so I was like, pass.
Well I couldn't have been more wrong, and admitting it is the first step! Kyra is so good it's impossible not to fall for her character. Her quirky, intense and unorthodox style on the show is an extension of Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson's high-strung personality.
It is this offbeat charm that drives the series, making it far from being just another cop show.
There are laughs, too. Kyra takes the lead in strange and humors ways, or defies the rules to satisfy her obsession with the case at hand. She also seems to have a fixation on her purse, much more so than the average woman. In one episode these traits hilariously combine when an explosive device is discovered under a dead body. She refuses to leave because calling in the bomb squad could taint the scene, even though everything could blow up in her face. Her crew knows her all to well and she's quickly whisked away outside on the shoulder of a male colleague, inadvertently forcing her to leave her purse inside. When the bomb squad robot enters the apartment, the first image it captures is the captain sneaking in to retrieve her purse.
The Closer airs on TNT with a new season this summer. Catch it!
