Electro pop music for the masses: I talk to funky new sensation Sam Sparro!

Somehow, I managed to finagle a ride-along when YH's ever-fabulous Michelle Marie snagged an interview with the UK music man.

I'm always incredibly nervous to meet new people, especially when it's somebody I dig.

I really just wanted to have my picture taken with him, which I immediately blurt out upon our introduction. He was happy to oblige.† As you can see from our photo, he was super cool while I look like I'm sitting in a bucket of ice. Sam Sparro is touching me! Nerves.

Extremely casual for a guy who has, most recently, become a paparazzi bulls eye on the sidewalks of Los Angeles, Sam is breezily attitude free. I'm suddenly comfortable just chillin' with him poolside for a little chat.

We talk about his unfortunate cancellation at the Viper Room recently, because immigration wouldn't let the band in! Sadness. I was really hoping to see him live, but we'll have to wait until his upcoming gig at the El Ray in September.

Although he swears up and down that he's extremely jet lagged,ù his energy level does not seem diminished in the least - he even did the Rodger Rabbit dance for Michelle!

The tour has him running ragged. But he's cool with all that. Music, you see, is his life. He's been around the block and now he's hitting it big.

What stands out beyond the success is his personality. He's truly engaging and likeable, rather instantly. He's the kind of bloke you can totally hang with, and makes you feel personally invited to the party. He smiles easily, talks calmly and laughs often.

I'm always fascinated to know what motivates people, so I ask about that. On his crap days, I go for a jog,ù he says. It gets your head straight and pushes you physically.ù

If you haven't heard his music, three slaps with a rubber chicken! Head on over to his myspace and peep that shizz. You'll be glad you did.

Word.
