Get Psyched for the AMAs!

For years, the American Music Awards have been seen as somewhat of a predictor for other music-based awards shows – most notably the Grammys – and if this year is any indicator as to what we will be seeing early next year, it is going to be a very good awards season.
It’s a battle of the pop queens this year, as contemporaries Nicki Minaj and Rihanna lead the pack of nominations with four each. RiRi, who is still having a stellar year with her mega-hit “We Found Love” (which won Video of the Year at the VMAs), is nominated for Best Female Pop Artist and, the biggest one of the night, Artist of the Year.
Another big artist who has been having an amazing year on the charts is none other than teen pop sensation and this generation’s favorite heartthrob Justin Bieber. His three AMA nominations include Artist of the Year and Favorite Pop Album (for Believe), which spawned the hits “Boyfriend” and “As Long As You Love Me”.
And an awards show as big as the AMAs is nothing without good performers, and already slated to take the stage with a medley of her hits from years past is our favorite singing competition judge, Christina Aguilera. Xtina herself told reporters last week when she announced the nominees at a press conference that she would be taking the stage to show the world she is ready, yet again, to rule the music scene and reclaim her crown.
Check out our brush with Queen Xtina at the nominations announcement below!
Other artists who are going to be battling out for domination at this year’s AMAs include our favorite U.K. imports One Direction, R&B king Usher, RiRi’s pop BFF Katy Perry, and a whole slew of the best and brightest of the music industry.
The best part of the AMAs is that the fans themselves get to vote on their winners, so to make sure your faves win, go online to the AMA website and vote!

And make sure to tune into ABC on Sunday, November 18, at 8pm to watch the 40th annual American Music Awards unfold!
