Friday 5: Five Ultimate CHER Songs

I hate to be so stereotypical, but holy crap I love me some Cher!

Clearly, I’m not the only one. She’s the ultimate showgirl, but without the falsity. There is nothing mysterious about Cher -- it’s all out there. By her own words, she says, “I'm the oldest chick with the biggest hair in the littlest costume." Cher doesn’t pretend to be something she’s not.

With her new film Burlesque in theaters this month, what better than an ultimate Cher song list?

1) "Believe"

Is there a more empowering dance anthem? I don’t think so! Cher’s been there and done that, honey; trust her when she says there is life after love.

2) "We All Sleep Alone"

In the ‘80s, Cher was a rock goddess with big, Diana Ross-inspired hair and leather jackets over spandex. Not much has changed!

3) "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves"

The ‘70s inspired an entirely different sound, with Cher reinventing herself yet again -- in a matching Indian headdress no less.

4) "I Got You Babe"

Her first big break is still a sweet tune today. There have been several remakes of the classic hit, but few compare to the sweet simplicity of the original.

5) "Turn Back Time"

If there is one iconic moment in the history of Cher, it is that costume and this song. You either love how over-the-top it is or we’re not friends.
