Want to party with the stars? Well, now you can thanks to five celebrity-inspired cocktails most bars are serving.
Gourmet magazine created a signature cocktail after the most nominated actor in history, Meryl Streep. Inspired by Streep’s style and class, her numerous acting nominations, and her role in the movie Doubt, Champagne was the perfect choice for a drink fashioned after this Hollywood leading lady.
THE MERYL STREEP
1 tsp. Goldschläger, including some gold flecks
1 tsp. Benedictine
Well-chilled demi-sec Champagne or Prosecco
Combine Goldschläger and Benedictine in a Champagne flute, and then top off with Champagne.
The Plaza Hotel's Oak Bar in New York City created “The Mel Gibson,” a $19 "bi-polar cocktail," that promises to be stomach-churning and takes a "brave heart" to drink it. The Oak Room’s executive chef Eric Hara kept with the “bi-polar” theme by using Van Gogh Vodka, to honor the artist who suffered from the mental disorder.
THE MEL GIBSON BI-POLAR COCKTAIL
1 oz. Van Gogh Vodka
1 oz. Bols V.O. Genever Gin
¾ oz. vermouth
3 oz. club soda
Splash of cocktail onion juice
Best served on the rocks.
Another New York City bar serving a Hollywood-inspired drink is Ninth Ward, with their winning creation:
THE CHARLIE SHEEN
Coarse sugar, for rim garnish
Ice
2 ½ ounces Catdaddy Carolina Moonshine
4 ounces Coca-Cola
1 Maraschino cherry, for garnish
Rim a low-ball cocktail glass with coarse sugar. Fill the glass with ice, add Moonshine, and top with Coke. Add the cherry and a short straw to garnish.
At First Food & Bar at the Palazzo in Las Vegas, they’ve added a specialty drink to their menu named after Lindsay Lohan.
L LOHAN
1 oz. Jagermeister
1/2 oz. peach schnapps (archers)
Splash of cranberry juice
Splash of coke
Powder on the straw for good measure
Our list wouldn’t be complete without having a cocktail named after the ultimate party girl and Hollywood’s top socialite, Paris Hilton.
THE PARIS HILTON
1 oz. vodka
1 splash of UV Orange Vodka
1 oz. Mountain Dew
Pour vodka over ice cubes or crushed ice in a cocktail glass. Add a splash of UV Orange Vodka, top with Mountain Dew, and serve.
Next time you’re in a bar and don’t know what to order, or perhaps you want to channel your inner celebrity, order up, sit back, and relax. Drink responsibly!
